I have never liked ...I know exactly what you mean! I have never liked short stories - even when they are 'good' ones. Perhaps I look to a book for a more long term relationship? I love sinking into a new novel and getting to know all the people and a new world. I tried reading some short stories in Catala and had the same feeling. Even though its hard to get through a big thick book in another language I'd rather get stuck in. For me it is the other way, I am willing to read short stories by a writer I really like, but not an unknown. Even then, I may not read any or them all. Roald Dahl is a classic example. Love his books, his biographies, the works. His book of short stories? MEH. Too freaky.
