There are decent people in the world

My workplace in Canada wasn't looking over the computer's proverbial shoulder when it filled in the forms to mail me my T4 form (vital Canadian tax document) and it got sent to some random office at one of the universities in BCN.

Some lovely woman there, who shares my first name - including the unusual-for-Catalans spelling - went to the trouble of searching for me on google.cat and sending me an e-mail.  That was two days ago.

Got the letter in the mail today.

Amazing, no????

Now I get the fun of thinking of a Canadian novel I can mail her (in translation) to thank her for her effort.  Suggestions?  I'm thinking of Alice Munro myself...but....

....on another note, watching your children eat when they serve themselves too much wasabi at once can be very very funny.  Cruel, but funny.

I love stories of people who go out of their way to do what's right. Other Canadian authors - Carol Shields, Margaret Atwood?

Ah, one of those “the world is a wonderful place” moments!
Alice Munro is a good choice – a short story collection would be excellent for someone whose taste in books you don’t really know.

Good for her. It is good to hear such things

How nice! A not-so-random act of kindness goes a long way.

Carol Shields is another Canadian option (I liked Larry's Party).

Kind acts like that make you believe in mankind again. But for your children and wasabi! Shocking you! ;-)

Bodhi, ahhh, I hate Atwood books, the only one I have completed contentedly was Alias Grace, the least Atwoody of them all. they haen't taken my passport away yet though.

Beth, I thought she would do, hope I can find one in Catalan, failing that Spanish.

Helen, ain't it though!?!

JG, I'll keep that in mind, thanks for the title.....

Swenglishexpat, she served herself the wasabi and knows all about it....fair laugh I figure. Though it is a hot batch.

How wonderful and lucky for you. I thought all the people who went out of their way were here in Canada?
