Class of seven year olds.
They asked me three questions...well, a lot more, but three really interesting to the blog questions...
1. Obama won! Is that good?
2. What does, "Yes we can" mean?
3. Finally, they asked if I have a tongue piercing.
Intersting....

Pretty funny, C! I especially like the one about whether you have a tongue piercing.
To me, "yes we can" relates to the ability to effectively bring about change to the US, moving on from a Bush USA to an Obama USA. It also reflects the hope that the new president brings.
Is the question about tongue piercing seriously meant about you as the teacher/person in front of them or a test to see what you say how you react etc??
Maybe they don't see a difference between Americans and Canadians?GM
Hey, since you're not A) American and B)in the US, there is no problem with you giving your views on the matter to a young impressionable class, right? At least I doubt you would get any parent complaints!
I didn't know you were teaching 7 year olds. How is that going?
Tongue piercing. Hmmm.
for 3, just say: "it's from the old days when I was in a punk rock band, with a pink mohawk"
Carla...I went with a literal translation and left it at that...though there are so many options for that answer.
GM...they aren't sure where the US and Canada are...and yes, they were serious, there are a lot of piercings around here...it was just a question.
Kate....I just said that I thought it was good, asked them what their parents thought....The youngest I have taught is 5 and the oldest is retired....it is great, I love the variety...though it is the teens I am enjoying most right now....
LP...how did you know? but it was purple....
maybe one of your fans digitized a video at one of your concerts and put it on youtube... maybe...
