Barcelona

The Scottish football hooligans are in town. Help us all. What a singularly ugly group of louts. I had to walk through Plaça Catalunia today dodging drunken jerks at every step...praying only that people would NOT think I was British...if there is one day only I hope to look Catalan or anything other than British. Yee gads. They were all massively hung over as well. There are apparently 13,000 hooligans in town. OMG.

There was even one old guy bragging that he was here in 1972...when they came down and trashed Camp Nou where Barça plays.

If you want to see some photos of them in action..... go here and click on the fotogaleria called 'descontrol escocès' which means scots out of control.

SO as an antidote, I thought I would post these photos of some of the things I find lovely on my way down to class in the morning...

I took the photos early in the morning, and I love the play of light over the stones. I also really like the interplay of stones, bricks and concrete....solutions over many hundreds of years.

Oreneta, you always take such great pictures of your daily travels...If I would ever get there, I would know exactly where I'm going from your pictures!!

How's the family? On the mend? Chuck beat up any more dogs lately? ;)

Great photos. The old buildings are quite amazing. Too bad about the drunks.

Beautiful pictures - the first one is my favourite.

Football fans - nationalism gone mad you see. Scotland fans are considered OK you should see the English ones!

13,000 drunken or hungover Scottish hooligans??

Yeegads...
I mean oops....that does not fit in the racial slur category does it?

Beth: The family seems to be uniformly on the mend. Thank goodness. Chuck went out today with another dog for a long walk, and a third kinda dominant giant shepherd came along that we had to hush up from time to time, but it was fun...

Dawn: Drunks are always a shame, no?

Beth: Yes indeedy, I had no desire to be around them....they seem to have not done too much damage though. Which is good.

Boo and Trev: If those ones aren't bad, I dread to think.

Nomad: If you had been horrified at the thought of 13,000 scots that would have been a slur, but I think 13,000 drunken hungover ANYONE is horrific...universal in my disgust see?

Love the pictures of the wall formations. I just don't understand the mentality of the soccer hooligans. Glad we don't have them over here. Mind you, our soccer isn't that good...yet.

Sirdar: The walls are beautiful I think, and I love the stratification of the layers of construction...If we don't have hockey hooligans, we aren't likely to get football hooligans...it's more than just the sport. They are scary and very unpleasant.
