Have you been listening to Casals? Or Yo Yo Mar? Something inspired you? String instruments are hard - no reason not to try though. I really must practise my violin.......
I always wonder how you manage to do all the stuff that you already do...I can't imagine adding the cello to it. But hey, why not? But maybe after you finish the Catalan...that already seems like a lot of work.
On another note (see how clever I am), thanks for the tip on the Cosmo Caixa. We went with the kids and we all had a great time! And we were even lucky enough that they were letting "familias numerosas" in for free. :)
More portable than bass, less than fiddle. The viola is nice and has the advantage that few people chose it, so if you want to play with others you are often in demand. Difficult to fit in all the practice needed though
I agree with you, the viola has a mellower tone than the violin, and I did play it for a few months when I was 13 or something, we had to chose an instrument, and it was a good balance of size and convenience, but I still like the sound of the cello better....hmmmm, Very difficult to fit in all the practice. Something to ponder.

Sounds nice. Ever played an instrument before?

Okay, where did this idea come from? Cello's do have a beautiful tone. And they are the right amount of portable.
Sorry, but I just think you're nuts!
Yeah, just go for the cello! It is my absolute favourite classical instrument. So much beautiful music written for it. Go go go!

One good reason why not?
GO FOR IT!!!!!
ElP, yes...but YEARS ago and never well.....
Kate! What CAN'T you do????? I am not sure what brought this on, but I have been thinking it for a while.
JG, I am not sure cellos are the right amount of portable for my life, more like a piccolo, but the sound...now that's what's worth rehearsing.
Jan, could be, but I'm (mostly) having fun!
Swenglish!!! OK! I love the sound too.....
Mother T, glad you liked cosmocaixa...it is amazing....no tv, short commute.
