So, after a LOT of pages with gouache that left me, meh.....the sumi ink stone arrived in the mail and I've been playing. It is SO much more fun. So much more varied and variable, it plays with the paper and changes tones as you work. It is lovely to grind it too.....very sensual as it all changes texture in the process.
So, here's a couple of bits that I played with. This stuff rings out. Ideas are shaping which is a lot of fun.
Just play, but this stuff is FUN

OK, not sure what you mean about the sumi ink stone and grinding. I do love the quality of the ink lines you've posted, the deliciousness of the wash int he second one, as well as the jagged line that creates a type of horizon. Just what are you doing? Is it part of the Script class? So very, very curious now.
Bodhi, not really part of the script class....I did take that, and it was good, all instruction.....but she used gouache, which I didn't like at all....so I got that chinese ink sticks - sumi ink, and a stone that you grind it on with a little water and off you go. I't serious fun, the brushes, stone and ink in total was maybe a 20 buck investment and a lot of time learning to use the brushes. Very vertical.
