Halloween preparation begins in earnest...

I went off to Ikea (pronounced Ee-kay-ah hereabouts) today in search of tea candles for these pumpkins for the Halloween festivities we are counting down to -lord help me....

Tomorrow we start work on the tombstones....yup, we'll be burying 39 children I think....

I have about 200 tea candles around here. I'm forever forgetting where I put them and buying another package at Halloween.

Enjoy the prep!

Why do you have to do all the preparations?
Why don't you lessen the work load and get to know the local mothers at the same time?
Invite them for a fun afternoon of working together.
Tell them to bring a sharp knife and teach them Canadian Halloween traditions.
Or some of your friends and colleagues?
I've started doing that here in Riga to everyone's shock and surprise.
But they enjoy the change of helping prepare vegetables or setting the table or whatever.
I'm long past working myself to death just to keep up appearances.
Who has three maids working for them these days?
Your work load of being super-mom is heavy enough.
I greatly admire your ambition and willingness to spare no effort for your kids' integration and fun but get smart and save time and energy as much as possible.

Beth: What is it about tea candles, I swear they breed...

GM: The kids will be carving the blessed things at the party, all fourty of them armed with knives. If we escape without a trip to the hospital I'll count the party a success....yeeesh. One of the Moms is coming over, she even asked if she could, she wanted to see what it was all about...which is also great, there is one more fluent Catalan speaker.
