Smoke

Ya know what I hate?

The smell of cigarette smoke that clings to your hair and skin and clothes after going out.

We went to watch the Manchester/Barça game at a local bar (we seem to have brought the Maple Leaf curse over with us...Barça can't do ANYTHING these days).

It was smokey.....

What a foul stink you carry home.

I am typing with a towel on my head and a complete change of clothes. The girls were too tired and went to bed with the foul odour floating gassing off them.

Blech.

Yeah I know what you mean. I don't know how smokers can live with that smell - like an old ashtray.

Blech

kinda makes you regret the smoke-free countries, like Canada (and France now :P), doesn't it?

I have long hair, and I hate waking up to smell it wrapped around my head on the rare occasion I went somewhere smokey the night before. Blech.

My wife is saying the same thing about her Vegas trip. Apparently, they smoke everywhere there.

Ick. I'm taking some Febreeze with me to the airport.

You must be living in one of the few places left in Europe where they allow smoking in public places.
I assume smokers don't even know they STINK OF STALE OLD NICOTINE
and it's revolting.
Getting kissed by one is hardly a pleasure.

PASSIVE SMOKING IS ALMOST AS BAD FOR YOU AS SMOKING - particularly if you have heart and related problems!
Must have been an exciting game if you endured. GM

That's wierd because Spain does have a smoking ban!
We are loving our ban here. I remember the kids coming home from the pub and the house smelled like an ashtray just from other people's smoke. Yuck!
However the kids say the downside of that is that busy pubs and clubs now smell of sweat and fart!
Nice!

I really don't miss those days when everything smelled like smoke. It not only used to affect the waymy clothes and hair smelled, but made my chest and throat kind of ache as well. It's now such a relief that one can find oxygen in pubs! Only snag I've notice now though, is that if you want to sit in a beer garden, a lot of smokers sit out there and light up. Ok it's not an enclosed space so much, but it's still unpleasant. In my experience, (student days) Febreeze is a miracle product, but somethimes that doesn't even work fully! And it's true about boo and trevs sweat and fart comment, but I hasten to add that its not like that in more refined establishments! Tsk!

:o)

I smell it in my laundry room when our son leaves his "disco" clothes there after a night out...Hate it! Hoping for a total ban in closed places !

Wish I could tell you the sound in the Palau was terrific but it was a Milton Nascimento/bossa nova concert and first we thought the drummer was too loud but then the public shouted that too, so there was some imbalance there. It was also part of the 19th guitar festival so more guitar was expected... But it was a fantastic evening anyways and it is such a beautiful concert hall- it took us years to go there... you know how it goes!!

Even worse, you now have extra laundry to do! The sheets, the towels...

(Keep the Leaf curse over there for next year - don't want it back.)

Hmmm That was my biggest complaint about moving from Smoke Free Australia to Everybody Smokes Egypt... I made it know to all that there was no smoking around me... so have become known as 'the intolerant one'. It is just plain disgusting... and there is no way I can go to sleep if it is in my hair.

BTW the only place I could find for my poor hard-done husband to listen to the game was the Barcelona Team website (they even broadcast in English) I picked up some serious brownie points when I found it for him.. BBC don't broadcast online outside of the UK

Trish, it must truly be an addiction, because it is sooo gross.

elPadawan, yes yes yes yes...there are things I miss.

Hulagirl, I also have long hair...which is why I had a towel on my head when I typed, I cannot stand the stink of my hair all smokey in my nice clean bed...*shudder*

DD, HEY! HOw are you??? What is febreeze anyway???

GM, sometimes you just have to put up with stuff...the game was, meh, OK, the complany was good though.

Boo and Trev...there maybe an official ban, but enforcement? It was a bar, and I am not sure it is banned in bars, neither are kids for that matter...

HC, I don't miss those days AT all...still, I don't know what febreeze is...I will have to google it. Tomorrow. I will remember to sniff cautiously before entering British pubs for the beer and fart smell.

Mar, it is weird how you never get around to seeing stuff when you live there...I have to look up what is coming soon and we could get a ticket too.

Beth, I'll see what I can do about the leafs for you....

Lynda, we have been listening to the English Barça broadcast and all of a sudden we can't get it, could you hear him last night?

Kim, maybe the curse will lift when they get rid of Ronaldhino...the guy spends too much time with the girls and too little on the field.

Helen, I wish I wish I wish the smoking ban were enforced here. It is sooo horrid. They are actually pretty good in most places, but in others...yech.

I hate that smell too. You dress up nice, usually shower just before an event and come home and have to shower again. Things are improving immensely here with no smoking laws. The restaurants are smoke free and so are most buildings where people work and people have to go in. I believe the sports venues are as well or they are talking about it. It works for me, a non smoker.

Dawn, it is true, in TO, you so rarely smell the smoke at all, let alone come home stinking...but here...well, it's not quite the same.
