Tech troubles, a saint and some horses

I'm having trouble logging in and posting....I will try for another post that I wanted to load...sorry for the absence.

Oh my goodness, so far so good...I got the pictures loaded....

It was St. Antoni Abat's day yesterday, the patron saint of animals and farmers.

There was a bit of a festa as there are enough farming families here still that this remains important. Horses were ridden through the village, we retrieved our kids early from school to see....

The photos aren't the best, I had forgotten to give youngest snack so she decided that she would rather eat that see horses. She must have been hungry.

From the Spanish style....

A rather rougher horse...

well pony.... actually, city girl here, I think that would be some kind of colt/filly/foal kinda thing, no?

I thought she or he (honestly, I have no idea) was kind of pretty...

How does she get a dark mane with white roots on a white horse....Maybe there is a hores hair dresser here as well?

Are we in Colorado?

Anyway, it was kind of fun, and decidedly neat. You could also take all of your pets down to the plaça and get them generally blessed, Chuck didn't make it what with the crowds and the timing, we'll have to hope that their proximity to the house will do.

Lets see if this will publish.

Glad to see Blogger cooperated with you today.
I love looking at pictures of horses - but I am always a bit unnerved when standing close to one. They are so big!

I am not really knowledgeable about horses. My daughters however are pretty much experts, especially the oldest. My family has race horses, so she comes by it honestly. I do know a baby horse is a foal, a boy foal is a colt and a girl foal is a filly. That I had to know to not be thrown from the family, and of course which end was heads and which end was tails.

Looks like a fun celebration.

It published! It published!

I'm imagining some little kid getting his guinea pig blessed.

Festivals are so fun.

Beth, I too am nervous standing too close to them, especially since they are armed with iron shoes...

Dawn, I am neither knowlegeable about horses, nor did I notice the relevant anatomy on the animal...hence the confusion.

Jocelyn, there were several guinea pigs there, a whole raft of dogs, I saw several bunnies, and wonder of wonders, no one's pet chihuahua ate anyone else's pet fluffy.

Actually the relevant anatomy on the horse is the same as any male animal and much more obvious than many! Appaloosas (ie the one with the white rump) are very popular in Europe now, and paint/coloured/skewbald/piebald/(take your pick of the terms for the brown and white one) are very fashionable too my source (Nic) tells me. Lots of the native Spanish breeds are stunningly beautiful though. Loved the pics

Helen, I knew that if Nic saw the photos I would be scolded...I do the same with boats, "What kind of boat was it?" I ask. "Ummmm, it had those white cloth thingies????" I am answered....

Elpadawan, sometimes it works...in fact I also ran a full anti-virus scan, deleted everything that could be, dumped caches, cleared cookies (which may be the same thing I am not sure) and defragmented. In reality it was probably a server problem but the little 'puter is probably happier for the service.

I have a fear of horses but I think they look so beautiful. We are still unspamming your comments. Hopefully Akismet will figure out that you are not evil.
