Lunch and, well, toilets still.

Isn't that a lovely combination? Lunch and toilets? Though I suppose they are related.

I had a totally delicious lunch and I just had to share, though it seems I was so excited by the food that my hands couldn't stop shaking, either that or I was so starving I was too weak to hold the camera....

That was little red potatoes, fresh from the earth, with utterly delectable fresh green beans, from the neighbouring village, boiled together with a little of the fat from the ham there, sliced it off the leg myself....and then topped with lots of salt and pepper, amazing local olive oil and more of the ham.

I was totally intimidated by that hoof-bearing hair-wearing leg of ham that we had last year, but this year, I am GOOD to go. I was just telling the man that we should get ourselves another one when this one runs out!

See this photo here? (of course you do, you're still with me here) See the movement? The action? That would be Chuck sniffing out the ham on my lunch. He thinks we should get another leg too....all for him.

And this photo? This photo is Chuck making absolutely certain that I am aware that he would like some of the ham. You see, he is staring fixedly at the plate on the table. No distracting him now.

Onto the toilets.

As you are no doubt aware, a bit of a poo/toilet theme has been slinking into the corners around here, and since BooksBeth has a very funny post up about her bathroom, I felt compelled to respond. You see, she was commenting on things she doesn't like about her bathroom, and one of them is the clutter. A sentiment I can wholeheartedly agree with. I am a great purger.

oops, not in the toilet way, more in the Goodwill donation way

moving right along,

A while ago, a lovely blogger named Lulu from Egypt, who sadly hasn't been posting lately after she accidentally deleted her entire blog, which would make me pretty darned despondent as well, I miss you Lulu...come on out and play.

On that note, everyone, please back up your blog....I have every post automatically sent to my e-mail address as well as slurping it to another off-air, on-line blog....

Hang on, I am digressing, in huge run-on sentences.

Lulu one time had an idea that everyone could post a picture of what they could see out their kitchen window, and it was a roaring success. It made me wonder, in a horribly nosey way, what is inside people's bathroom cupboards and drawers. Now you can't ask other folks to do what you wouldn't do yourselves, so here, unchanged from actual reality, is my bathroom cupboard and one of the drawers....

So what have we here: cold medicine, nail clippers, toothbrushes, lots of different types of sunscreen (at least four), face cream, gel for giving youngest a mohawk for school, FLOSS (hey, at least I've got some) and a whole lot of varied generic medicines all in Spanish, which I have to write on in marker so I don't give someone anti-biotics when they have a headache or something like that.

And in here...band aids, empty band aid wrappers, a supply of toothpaste, razors, unused FLOSSERS for the kids, medical tape, lip goo...I have no idea what is in that scary looking silver tube....

So, what's in your drawers...if you decide to post, let me know and I'll put up a link.

Come out and play, m'kay?

Hey, I have a bathroom drawer that looks just like that!
Do I dare take your dare? I'd rather take a picture of my lunch than one of all the junk I have hidden away in my bathroom.
I'll give it a go - but my photography skills are sorely lacking (as are my bathroom de-cluttering skills.)

P.S. I wonder if Lulu knows all her blog posts can be found on Google Reader?

oh i am away from my own bathroom right now and it doesn't seem fair to take photos of one's host's bathroom recesses.

I like the kitchen idea better. See my blog today for what we saw out the kitchen window tonight. I'm not gonna tell. And I'll let ya know about the bathroom, all 3 of which do NOT have drawers. (odd BC designers)

"Onto the toilets."

Shouldn't this be On to the toilets, as in let's go there? Your version leads me to think you are mounting the toilets, so to speak. Maybe going to sit on them is a better way to put it. Unless that IS what you meant. LOL!

What a fun idea! I've posted my photos, can't wait to have a peek into other people's bathrooms - kind of like visiting, then using the bathroom and peeking in their medicine cabinet.

I was a little disturbed to realize I could accidently delete my whole blog. Could you explain a little more what you do to back yours up? I am a little technically challenged so please speak to me like I'm a five-year old. Thanks!

Archeologists in the future could probably learn a lot about our civilization from what's in our bathroom drawers.

I'm too afraid to tackle my bathroom - I figure if the drawer closes then I'm good.

I solved the full cupboard in the bathroom by getting a bigger cupboard. To do lists ...I do try to make mine realistic and that way I don't spend more time on guilt trips than on getting things done. Also I realised as I got older that perfection was always going to elude me(!) so don't strive after the impossible any more - however the reverse of this is that maybe I don't strive after what I should be aiming for. As someone with a partner who is striving for something really hard to reach, I sometimes feel guilty about that. Hey - guilt must be good for something!!

Beth, c'mon....post the pic...please!!!

I will let Lulu know, I never thought of that.

Mmichele, fair enough...definitely unfair to post other people's bathroom drawers.....

Doug, looking forward to the picture.I'll have to look.Very weird that you have no drawers, sometimes in VERY tiny bathrooms...but a medicine cabinet??? and mea culpa about the onto/on to mix up...though getting onto the toilet can be fun sometimes to, no?

Bhodi, I'll go and look and I'll link to you as well.

Saving the blog, you are on blogger, no? let me check that....

Bhodi, yes you are on blogger, OK, go to the page where you write posts, and click on settings, then in the line of tabs, click e-mail At the top of the page that comes up there will be a box for "blogsendaddress" put in your e-mail address and it will be sent to your e-mail automatically when you post. You could also send it to other folks who might want to read it, but won't log onto blogs, but that could be annoying, like those christmas letters but one that comes ever day... The other thing I have done is I have created a blog with wordpress, and they have a slurp technology, and what you can do is import your blog over there into one of their blogs...essentially making a double of it. I go over and back it up sometimes. There is also a way to download the blog into a harddrive, in the settings tab, under basic you can click the link to export blog. This does not delete it, but it downloads it to your computer...hefty if you have 800 odd posts, but not so hard drive killing if you have less.

*whew* Anyone else with ideas, chime in and we'll get them all together...there are services that automatically back up a blog, but I would be worried I would forget who they were.

Aw, c'mon Trish....a picture....please????

Helen, I am with you, sometimes you have to foget the big picture to do list just to make it through the day. Balance with long and short term goals is a tough balance. I hate guilt...try and avoid it at all costs.

Thanks for all that info. I will look into it more. I was kind of counting on blogger being a safe place but you never know. If you are also at wordpress, why stay at blogger? So many questions, but thanks for the research. Now you've seen the inside of my linen closet, I feel like you know me well enough to, you know, share.

The lunch looks good!! We have a weird bathroom. Our toilet is in a room by itself. The shower is in a room with a sink. There is a sink in the room that contains the toilet room and shower room. Oh...and we have a tub...that has never been used. It would take about 5 pictures to get a picture of our bathroom.

Bhodi, I think blogger is a safe place, but it is still just one company, and it to can go, even if it is google....and I am still here for two reasons, laziness, and I like the templates better, also I don't really see a reason to leave.

Sirdar, Weird indeed, though my sister's apartment has a bathroom in two parts and it is brilliant. There is a toilet with a sink, and then a room with a shower/tub and a sink, so you can be in the shower and folks can still go to the john, or you can brush your teeth while some one else is occupying the facilities. LOVED it.
