Sailing 2010

Our extraordinary and diligent navigator!  See, we made it to land, just like I said we would.

Water snake, we saw several of these....he just wanted some sunshine.

Canadian shield.

Turkey vultures.

Proof positive that Chuck has overcome his terror of water and will swim voluntarily, to shore, or for thrown sticks/pine cones.

Post swim

Eldest picked up a leach...nothing a little salt couldn't cope with.

Fun in the sun!

Nice :). Aren't leeches supposed to be healthy, to some extent?

SOOOO how is Oreneta. She is floating I hope. Was it great to be on your own boat.

Looks fabulous. Chuck looks really in control.

The towel shot of Chuck is a-dor-a-ble! But how do you apply the leech salt? (Just in case I ever need to know, which I hope never happens--ewww.)

Re Diligent navigator...looks like a very good "map-weight" to me!

ElP, That's what they used to say...

Oh Terrie, it was soooo wonderful to be out on Oreneta again. So wonderful.

Helen, he got himself together gradually.

JG, common household salt sprinkled on, makes them let go, pretty quickly too.

Nomad, he was doing his best.

Boo and Trev, we think so too!

HaHaHa, the picture of the leech made me laugh. One time, we vacationed in Nothern Minnesota at a lake. The kids were bored, so made a game of seeing who could catch the most leeches.

I was impressed by how utterly unmoved the kids were about it all....no ickiness in anyway. A little salt, it squirmed around, let go and we tossed it over. No problemo. Still, not sure I'd go looking for them.
