I love Catalonia

Know why I love Catalonia?  Mother Theresa, in case you didn't know, lives in Pamplona and visited BCN last week.  One of here comments was that for Catalans food is like a religion.  I disagree slightly as I  would say that good food ranks considerably higher than religion here, and I have a case in point with this.

Today at lunch I went over to my corner store where I picked up a couple of steaks for the man and I (vegetarian kids, not cruel parents).  I bought some last week too, as decent steak is REALLY hard to find here.

Not only did he ask me if the steak last week was good, which many food loving foodsellers might do, but he then informed me that the meat came from Girona.

How many people do you know who could tell you where the cow grew up.

LOVE their food.  Works for me too.

Okay, let me rephrase my sentence:
Food is to Catalans as religion is to the Pope. Better? Actually our Belgian guide told us that many Catalans are sort of anti-religion, and he bought an "angel soap" while on our walk, presumably to annoy his Catalan girlfriend's family, who only speak to him in Catalan, even though they know Spanish. :D
I didn't realize it was so hard to find a decent steak over there, but hey, what about all that wonderful seafood? And the fresh fruits and vegetables in the market looked delicious.

Mother T, that's closer to the truth....I would put it more anti-clerical, but anti-catholic too, the church sided with Franco (at least here). It didn't help it's popularity. Church burning was something of a past time. He must have some pretty nationalist family members he's contending with...many will switch. I did go for Catalan first though. The fruits, veg and sunshine are SUBLIME
