I love living here. I really do.

Today is simply a slice of heaven.

It is warm, sunny and beautiful.

Chuck and I went for a walk in the hills, running everywhere and he smells heavenly now...all rosemary and thyme and pine.

He smells like the mountains.

I managed, for the first time, to find wild asparagus!!!!

You sort of have to get an eye for it....I recognised the plants, but hadn't managed to find a shoot yet...and then all of a sudden my eye tuned in and they were everywhere....well, that's a bit of an exaggeration, but I managed to find a handful! That is as much as some of the older Catalans have managed. It's kind of looking for sea beans or sea glass, once your eye, or brain is tuned, you can find them everywhere, before that, it's like they don't exist.

Look! (please excuse the grungy counter..we're all lucky I stopped long enough for a picture before I snarfelled these up with a big fat dab of the organic French butter my sister brought me!)

And look who I met in the hills! I am sorry the photo is blurry....the camera was on auto-focus and it just felt like looking at the sticks in the ground, and Mr. Bumblebee didn't hang around for second shot. He's feasting on thyme flowers. Can you imagine what that honey would taste like!

This is where I go walking.

What a glorious way to start the weekend! Am green with envy!
We still have ice and snow in Riga.
The sun DOES appear for a couple of hours quite often and lift my spirits in hope of seeing spring sometime soon! GM

I know I’ve said this before (and that you know it) but you are so lucky to be able to walk in such beautiful surroundings.
And I do love asparagus – especially the thin stalks!

Yes, beautiful!

They do sell thyme-flower honey-- you might be able to find some in a shop that has gourmet or touristy type stuff.

She...sorry. I do love being outside...especially here.

Fresh wild asparagus, no Mmichele, it doesn't get much better....

JG, I figure I have to keep some perspective on it all. It was a beautiful wonderful day.

GM, spring in northern climates is so hopefull, one of the things I love about it, and those first smells of earth and mud as everything thaws. I love that smell.

Beth. I do indeed know just how fortunate we are to be here. Truely.

Beth...give me the flight number hon, and we'll be off!

Kate, our local stores sell two or three different kinds of honey, right now we have rosemary honey. mmmmmmmmm.

I did not know you could find wild asparagus! Fantastic. Would it have a particularly strong flavour? Interesting.
