rain.

It is raining in the house.  Hard.  Deep puddles in the kid's bedrooms, seeping through the vaults.

They can't pour the concrete cause it's raining too hard.

Ho hum

....later.......

It has indeed rained all day and is still raining.  I don't want to go and look honestly.  The architect said that drips will probably start coming down through the vaults by tomorrow.

Ho hum.

I went in later still, I even borrowed one of the guy's hardhats, dark, wet and mud walls.

See what I saw:

That's in the hallway upstairs.

Youngest's new swimming pool.

Water water everywhere.....

Ho hum

So the architect is quite a drip, huh?
Hope the rain stops – that no damage is/was done – and that progress may continue!

OOOppppps, he wouldn't thank me for that! Fixed it up. The rain ain't supposed to stop anytime soon, but they want to bring in the concrete tomorrow anyway.

So what does that mean in terms of progress? Here it would be disastrous, all the wood would have to be stripped and the gyprock torn down, replaced. I am assuming this isn't the end of the world - just a temporary and minor set back.

Gah! Looks a right mess!
Like the others here, I am hoping that this won't mean any real barriers to your progress!

Bodhi, seems we are still progressing. It may or may not be a longer term problem depending on how wet the mud walls have gotten. That I have no idea about, but they are going ahead at this stage anyway and that is good.

Beth. A right mess indeed. Nothing like kicking up waves in the bedroom! They have it all bailed out at this point. Fingers crossed.

I must say, you sound rather blase about this, which is definitely the right attitude!

I can't believe you're so calm! The Hula-gen's would be having coniption fits. Hang in there.

JG and Hula. Rain? Can't change it. No point getting too worked up. I did have to go to sleep listening to the ipod so I would stop fixating on imagines of the mud wall giving away. It is all basically made of stone which is quite different than our houses in NA, and there is much less potential for damage. All appears OK now, but we'll have to wait and see if there has been some infiltration that causes problems. It will (someday) get hot here and stop raining, it is Spain (or so I'm told, feels like London with a really weird accent these days) and things will really start to dry out then.

I hope.
