Clips of the day

Thankfully today I have had enough sleep that I once again understand Catalan, reasonably well, and can mutter my way through....

I went for a walk with Chuck, and picked some of these....sorry for the blurry photo

And one of these....please look carefully, that isn't an apple...

Youngest got cooking. She made Tiramisu, here she is half way through...

And the finished product....

Delicious, but so sweet and fatty I could only have about one mouthful.

Back to your old routine - walks with Chuck, great photos and eating fattening/delicious desserts!

yum....

I bet Chuck is glad to be back to his walks again, huh?

And what are those things you picked?

Hmm, the cactus thingies I saw in Peru, but I didn't know they could be found here, too (Oops-- I shouldn't lump Cataluña into the same geopolitical category as Spain, should I? I saw something about how they were handing out fans printed in English "Catalonia is not Spain!" to unsuspecting tourists. I hope none of them freaked out and placed an emergency call to their travel agents!)

The second one is a pomegranate, no?

Beth: Yes indeed and I am loving it. See next post...

Beth: Chuck is indeed a happy puppy, they are prickly pears, which you could get at an Italian grocers at the right time of year, probably at a Mexican one too...PEEL THEM, they are prickly, hence the name. The second is a pomegranate (how do you spell that in English)

Kate: I am not too fussed, though I imagine some of my neighbours would inflate themselves with indignation that you generalised Catalonia into Spain. I too am rather surprised that you don't have these cactuses there, but upon thinking about it Madrid has a much more continental climate, and it does stay warmer here in the winter..do you have palm trees there? We have loads....the second is indeed a pomegranate....that was Spanish I take it, I have no idea of the name in Catalan and I am not looking it up now. Congratulations on the pregnancy!

Wish I could spell check these comments.

I haven't seen any palm tress here, and in fact I remember when I first went to BCN during my semester abroad it was in the winter and I was so surprised to seepalm trees there. Madrid was pretty bleak in the winter...
