Four horsemen?

Well, I talked about how all the computers are down at work...right?  Since last friday we've not had our shared drives, nor our h drives, so internet and little else.

That's one.

They're also doing roofing, so my class of students and I are playing fugitive, or musical chairs as we continually migrate to the least stinky room we can find to work in.

Two.

This morning, the building manager comes in to inform me that the mechanical system will be down in our part of the building.  That is not just the AC, but all fans and air circulation equipment.  See above and the tar smells to imagine the beauty of this.

That would be the third horseman.

Then, I was told that the plumber would be coming to one of the principle rooms I work in.  That it would all be tarped and he shouldn't be there too long.  He'd be working in the ceiling!  (All the better to hose everything down!!!)

I mentioned to our (very nice) building manager, that he really didn't have to bring the fourth one along, I was doing OK with three....

It is at least amusing ;-p

EARLY!!!

Getting the kids up suuuper early tomorrow, they'd rather rise at the crack of dawn with me and get a lift to a friend's place than get up later and take the subway...nut jobs!  Should be loudish.....

Youngest is coming to walk the dog with me, and that should be fun anyway!!!!

I'll get to see them in the morning which is something good....even if they are craaaanky.....

So very very full now.

It's technically tomorrow

but that's OK, cause I had a nap today.

Weekends are such wonderful things, and we are packing as much into them as we possibly can....and some napping.  Friends friends and more friends.  The chief goal.

Our time here is winding up so quickly, I look at the numbers and it still looks like lots of time, but honest to goodness, there is so little left in which we can see folks.  A week and a bit of work, a week and a bit of sailing and then a few days of tidying and we're GONE!

WOW

It'll be good to get back to Spain though too......hmmmmm.  Now to try and read a little.

Take me out to the ball game....

Yup, I went and saw the Jays today, saw them TROUNCE the Oakland A's...it was a fun game too.  There's a young guy on the team...Lawrie....apparently this was his fourth game in the majors.  He got a grand slam and a home run.

SWEET

Then the pitcher - Norberton or something like that - hit a player - Escobar - REALLY high, like it would have hit his neck but he got his shoulder in the way....both benches emptied and all the guys came out of the bull pens...

Weirdness.

Fun night overall.

Ahhhh summer.

Summer in TO

Work, food, friends, family.

Sums it up pretty much, then some sailing at the end.

Saturday, August 6, 2011

Hmm, where to start

Got reading glasses, getting older, but I think I have to go back because the focal range is so narrow that I still cannot see anything clearly that is closer than about a foot from my face, and that just. won't. do.

They look funky though, too bad they don't work.

Got caught in the TTC today, I got on the subway and they said that it was down due to passenger illness.  That's usually fairly fast unless someone really splatters themselves around, so I though, not too bad.  Then we got turfed out, power was down between Keele and Broadview for the entire Bloor - Danforth line.  What did he do to take out the power from the subway system in the entire downtown core???? With his body????  I cannot image.

I can tell you though that waiting in the hot sun for a shuttle bus for AGES is not fun.

I can also tell you that there are a LOT of angry people in TO, and TTC staff have not been covering themselves with glory these days, but they were getting a whole TON of totally undeserved anger tossed at them and it was most unreasonable.

Thank goodness I had a book.

Met up with a very dear friend I haven't seen since last summer today, she's been diagnosed with cancer, had chemo and radiation and a radical mastectomy since I last saw her, and it was wonderful, wonderful wonderful to see her again.

Lovely day.

Good parts of the day

Got to hold a 4 week old baby for an hour....that was a treat and a half

One of my graduated students just got a job she really wanted, and that is a delight as well

Went out for dinner with the man, and that was very good indeed too.  A cheap and cheerful that we walked to, but still delish and so was the company.

What good things happened in your corner of the world today?

What's to say?

Got to work at 7:30, worked straight through till 6pm.

Indeed a dull girl.

Highlight of the day definitely walking the dog.

Got a lot done though and that is very good indeed.

Hope your day was more exciting,  here's some guardedly good news though anyway.
