I love my kids, thank goodness there's only two of them

I love love love my kids like a mad thing.

I am also so very very glad there are only two of them.

We had a friend over for the weekend, a kid who is one of my kids very best friends in the world, and who we know like another child of our own we have spent so much time together. I love this kid too. Completely.

It is just that the vibe is so different with a third child here. I was a wee bit cranky today...the kids were whining, complaining, yelling at each other, not the other child, that one I was ready to keep, but mine? OMG.

Fortunately they go to bed and are sweet and adorable. Actually, when there were only two of them together, any two, it was much better, but as soon as there were three the dynamic changed completely, OMGGGGG.

Glad I only had two. Very glad.

I think it all has to do with what you're used to (and I'm used to three). Add an "outsider" to the mix (be they good or bad) and everyone's behaviour changes. (Including mine.)

This is why we have the "No 3 Rule" when it comes to my daughter's sleepovers around here. She can invite one person or three, so we always have even numbers. No odd men out.

I suppose if you did have a third child, you would get used to it, and would adapt. Perhaps throwing a full grown kid in the recipe was what disturbed... erm... the Force?

The dynamic is by character. I know pairs who fight all the time and 3s and mores who get on fine. My first gets on with 2 and 3, but 2 & 3 used to fight all the time - but it is all down to personality. We ended up with a round table meeting to sort it all out in the end and that did improve things. Summit meeting style when all could say their bit, but 2 can still wind up 3 with no effort at all (but does so less often now). Bloody hell, they are adult now!!

I think you have left out a VERY BIG COMPONENT IN YOUR DESCRIPTION.
What does the man say to all this? Where does his appearance, after a 6-week absence, fit into the picture of your and your kids behaviour? GM

Beth, I think you're right, there is a certain amount of outsiderness to it, still, glad I had two.

Hula, you are so right, three is often difficult, though I have to say that this three normally don't have any problem at all....normally.

Padawan, the third definitely upset the, erm, force...I think the three night in a row sleep over probably had a bit of an impact as well.

Helen, yes yes yes yes....I so agree. Some of them are such ****disturbers aren't they....especially with certain others.

GM, he was the saving grace in the day...

Yes, the dynamics change. We have two away right now, and the whole place is a lot quieter. Sometimes though, I think it is the change that makes the difference.

Dawn, it always amazes me how exponentially louder it is if you add in one more child...Really, exponential differences. Weird.

Having the third child can be challenging at times!

Say... remember the photo of the bull? Now there are a group of turkeys in that same location. I'll take cows, bulls, and turkeys over raccoons any day! LOL!
