Music

I will honestly state that I am not the biggest music aficionado, not like the man. I actually don't like having music playing all the time, it starts to make me crazy.

There are times though.

The man, he likes to listen to depressing music.  Honestly.  There is some stuff he simply cannot play when I am home.  John Pryne is number one on that list in my mind.  I mean, honest to God, you write a song titled, "There's a hole in Daddy's arm where all the money goes"?  Put my head in the oven now.  Holy jeez.

Then there are the days when I deliberately use music for mood management.  No?  There are just some songs that make me happy.  It is so magical.

Some of the latest happy songs I've been listening too, (some of this I find a mite embarrassing):

Walking on Sunshine,
Girls just want to have fun
Starry Eyed Surprise (dance all night to this dj) - I could listen to this over and over and over.
Party in the USA *ok, this is the cringe, but somehow...*
Dancing Queen
Hey Soul Sister
Akon
K'naan
Ode to Joy
William Tell Overture with all the canons
Proclaimers, Walked a thousand miles
Hand in hand, Proclaimers
Anything with a great bass line - boom bah bah boom bah bah

What's your happy music?  You know, it gets you up out of your seat and dancing, and just basically, unreasonably, animal happy.

While it's not my music of choice, I cannot sit still if I hear a polka or a cajun tune. My go to happy music is stuff from my youth, which includes a lot of 70's and 80's stuff. The Turtles' "Happy Together" always reminds me of riding with high school chums in a convertible with the top down.

I will admit to not hating "Party in the USA", if that makes you feel any better. It makes me dance!

I also am loving "I Gotta Feeling" by the BEP. Can't resist it!

Gwen Stefani "Wind it Up", anyone?

Also, anything by The Smithereens brings back my youth and makes me feel quite frisky. Some of their songs were just released for Wii Rock Band recently and I've already downloaded "Yesterday Girl"!

Thank you for reminding me of the Proclaimers - had totally forgotten about them! For me it is Bob Marley - and lately a lot of Abba songs ;-)

I hate it when stores play music! It's usually crappy and puts me in a bad mood.

But ya, there are some songs that I have to turn up when they come on the car radio.

All Star - smash mouth

Freedom - George Michael

Blitzkrieg Bop - The Ramones

De Do Do Do - The Police

Don't Stop The Music & Disturbia - Rihanna

Hot n Cold - Katy Perry

Generally I'm not a music person though.

Currently I am obsessing about "Lover [You Don't Treat Me No Good No More]" by Sonia Dada. Thank goodness for YouTube.

There's just something so summery about it.
