Am I the only one?

I imagine not, but am I the only one that gets almost...fearful...when choosing the next book to read when in the middle of a run of really good books?

Just finished a great one.

You know the kind, you don't want to read another for a bit so you can let it settle.

Now, I am kind of worried about what to read next.  Standing in front of the bookshelf, not wanting to jinx this run of wonderful reads.

Isn't it a delightful kind of fear?

So, how is the weather in Spain? I saw a report on the weather channel that Spain was being battered by some pretty fierce storms and I thought of you. Hope all is well.

I am in such a drought I can't imagine fearing for my next book. I am just expecting more ho hum. And I fear it is actually me, and not the books that are ho humming at this point.

So, what was that wonderful last book? I'm always looking for good books...

How about overlapping? Half way through one book, start another one "on trial"?

For me it's more of an issue of choosing something that I feel like reading next.

Of course, I stack the deck by being snobbish about what gets on the TRB list in the first place. Less risky that way. :-)

No expectations, no surprises :). I'm never afraid of the next book. I see you're reading some Pratchett in your bookshelf (although not in publication order). Those always gave me a good laugh :)

Doug, our patch of Spain has had some weather but nothing too dramatic. Sunny today and very fall-like weather. All is indeed well.

Mmichele, I think that does happen sometimes...hopefully you'll hit a good one soon to pull you out of the slump.

Mother T, the last one was Masterpiece by Miranda Glover. About an experimental artist and some radical work she does. I enjoyed it.

Swenglish expat...an idea.

JG, normally, for me too, what next and little more, but when I've read a bunch of good ones in a row I find my expectations rise and it makes me REALLY want another good one, and life doesn't offer guarantees.

ElP...a good way to be! Pratchett is definitely worth a laugh...we can't easily get them in order, we tend to read what we can find.

I have them all, so not a problem for me to get them in order :D. The Discworld novels are one of those rare series where I will actually invest in it all rather than borrow from friend/library.

What language do you have them all in? Two? Three?

Just in English. I discovered it in French (borrowed from friends in High School), and I recall that the translators managed to get every single pun and joke translated correctly, which is quite a feat. But a couple of years later, I managed to read them and actually understand them in English directly, so I decided to purchase the series in English only.

I am so very impressed by your commitment to learning languages. Especially if the translations are that well done. It also goes a long way, though, to explaining your completely natural and colloquial use of the language. Were I so good in Catalan or Spanish.
