this may just be stream of consciousness blogging.

Did you know that Fox news also owns the Wall Street Journal?  Am I the only one who finds that...alarming?

Another question, what is it with the huffington post?  I see it referenced often enough, and I have scrolled through a bit, but cannot quite get a feel of the thing.  I don't know how much more often they could put *gag* palin up, and it looks generally kinda trashy, but some pieces look better written, and certainly some of the writers are well enough known.

Anyone?

On another note, I found a place to play tetris on line for free.  I think that was not a good thing for me.

Can you say hypnotic?  Goodness.

What disturbs me is the concentration of media power under one commercial roof, and the suspicion that they are simply selling us a "product" instead of doing what the free press is supposed to do. I'm more concerned about corporate power than government power these days.

It's much more fun to think about free Tetris. Wow! How are you ever going to resist???

I don't really like Fox news and disregard financial/economical newspapers like the Wall Street Journal, as I consider the "trading market" to be void of interest, and some kind of abomination that hinders free trade rather than help it. What's even worse is when "media groups" in a country are lead by friends of the President of the country. Or when the President of the country actually owns media groups.

Ah, dear old Mr Murdoch........he really is an Australian who abdicated to become an American citizen so he could buy more media!

Not even necessarily liked in Australia either.

Media ownership is a big issue in Australia, even probably more so thna the USA

JG, for me, it's more than a suspicion. They are selling a product and little more.

ElP...sounds Italian for one...and

Peter, Australian too.

Actually, for the "country leader owning his media group", yes. For "media group owners very good friends with the president", you'd just cross the Alps. There are good chances you could see the French president on a big media tycoon's yacht...

Too true.....and unfortunate as well.

The political viewpoint of Fox
news is far to the right. I am appalled by how many viewers believe everything they hear and watch.

Extremism on either side is rather scary...

I knew that about Fox, and in some ways it's not really a surprise that the Wall Street Journal has the same owners is it.

Honestly, I do find the rise of some of what is going on in the US very scary. Sorry, but it's true.

You should see who is really behind the Tea Party. Scary stuff, for sure

Who? Though I could make some guesses off the top of my head. Grass-roots it ain't, that's for sure.
